Apollo 17 was the last mission of the Apollo program. It was the first and only night launch of the Saturn V launch vehicle. It was the first time a scientist (Geologist Harrison H. Schmitt) was part of the crew. The Greek god Apollo dominates the patch. The predominant colors are red, white and blue with gold highlights symbolizing the entry into the "Golden Age of Spaceflight."
